Jupiter Electric Mobility (JEM), part of the Jupiter Group, has unveiled its new 10 ft and 20 ft containerised Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), designed for diesel generator replacement, solar storage, energy shifting, and backup power applications across India.

The first 10 ft BESS has already been supplied in partnership with GMMCO, a CKA Birla Group company, to Greenlit, a Mumbai-based subsidiary of Recube that is driving decarbonisation in events, entertainment, and hospitality.

Developed entirely in-house, JEM’s BESS features a vertically integrated design, covering everything from container fabrication to battery production and system integration. The systems, which are air-cooled and modular, offer capacities ranging from 241 kWh to 3 MWh. Built at JEM’s Indore and Bangalore facilities, they are engineered for durability in harsh conditions, easy transport, and scalable deployment in Commercial & Industrial (C&I) applications.

The launch marks a significant step in delivering domestically built, scalable energy storage solutions. In October, JEM will export its first 20 ft BESS to Africa and will soon introduce liquid-cooled BESS designed for grid-scale applications. To support increasing demand, the company’s Indore facility is set to scale production capacity from 1 GWh annually to 5 GWh over the next three years.

Commenting on the development, Vivek Lohia, Managing Director of Jupiter Group, said the new modular systems reflect the company’s strong design, engineering, and manufacturing capabilities. Built to stringent IEC standards and with system-level approvals underway, the BESS segment is expected to scale rapidly and emerge as a cornerstone of India’s clean energy future.

Pankaj Kumar Jha, Senior Vice President – Energy and Transportation Business, GMMCO Ltd., noted that the partnership with JEM will enable industries across India to access sustainable, round-the-clock clean power. Arshad Nawaz, Deputy General Manager, GMMCO Ltd., added that the systems will help the C&I sector lower its carbon footprint while ensuring reliable and continuous energy supply.

With this launch, JEM is positioning itself as a key player in accelerating adoption of reliable and scalable energy storage solutions. By supporting round-the-clock renewable energy, reducing carbon intensity, and reinforcing India’s Net Zero 2070 vision, the company aims to strengthen the backbone of the country’s clean energy infrastructure.
