JSW Energy has reported a 23 percent year-on-year increase in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) to INR 3,907 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with INR 3,180 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The company’s installed power generation capacity reached 15,147 MW as of October 5, 2026, while profit after tax (PAT) increased 38 percent year-on-year to INR 1,141 crore.

The company’s revenue for Q2 FY27 rose 24 percent YoY to INR 6,658 crore. PAT attributable to shareholders increased 50 percent to INR 1,056 crore, while cash PAT grew 39 percent to INR 2,099 crore. Cash and cash equivalents stood at INR 15,698 crore, compared with INR 6,181 crore in Q2 FY26.

During H1 FY27, JSW Energy added 1,686 MW of generation capacity, including 1,386 MW of renewable energy capacity. Renewables accounted for 9,189 MW, or 61 percent, of its total installed capacity, comprising wind, solar, hybrid and hydro assets.

Total power sales increased 17 percent YoY to 17.5 billion units (BUs), supported by a 22 percent rise in long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) sales. Thermal generation grew 13 percent to 8.9 BUs, while renewable generation increased 21 percent to 8.6 BUs, driven by capacity additions and plant load factors.

On the expansion front, JSW Energy signed a shareholders’ agreement with Bhutan’s Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) to jointly develop the 920 MW Punatsangchhu-III hydroelectric project. The project marks the company’s first power generation venture outside India.

The company also completed the acquisition of the 300 MW Maruti Thermal Plant in Chhattisgarh on August 6, 2026, at an enterprise value of INR 1,410 crore. Additionally, it placed final turbine-generator orders with Toshiba JSW Power Systems for the entire 3,200 MW Salboni Thermal Project in West Bengal to address equipment supply constraints.

JSW Energy also received approval from the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) for the scheme of arrangement involving the demerger of GE Power India’s (GEPIL) boiler business into JSW Energy.

Commenting on the performance, Sharad Mahendra, Joint Managing Director and CEO of JSW Energy, said, “Q2 FY27 marks JSW Energy's highest-ever quarterly EBITDA and PAT, as the capacity we have been building steadily translates into earnings. In H1 FY27, we added 1.7 GW, including 1.4 GW of renewables, among the highest capacity additions in the sector, and crossed the 15 GW milestone. With land, transmission connectivity and equipment supply secured for the remaining projects, and the stronger construction season now underway, we are confident of achieving our FY27 target of 3 GW. Our robust balance sheet and the execution discipline of Strategy 3.0 give us clear visibility towards 30 GW by FY30.”

The company aims to add 3 GW of capacity in FY27 and achieve 30 GW of installed capacity by FY30 under its Strategy 3.0 roadmap.
