JSW Energy Fully Commissions 240 MW Kutehr Hydro Plant in Himachal Pradesh
JSW Energy has fully commissioned the 240 MW Kutehr Hydroelectric Power Plant in Himachal Pradesh after it recently operationalised the last part capacity of 80 MW. With this, the company’s installed hydro capacity increased to 1,631 MW.

The Kutehr plant is situated in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. The project is backed by a long-term Power Purchase Agreement with Haryana Power Purchase Centre (HPPC) for the entire 240 MW at a levelized ceiling tariff of INR 4.50/kWh, valid for 35 years with provisions for extension. Power generated will supply Haryana’s state distribution utilities — Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam.
The commissioning of Kutehr HEP, coupled with recent organic wind capacity additions, has taken the company’s installed capacity to 13,020 MW, up from 10,875 MW at the end of FY25, reflecting a 2,145 MW increase since March 2025.
With these capacity additions, the installed hydro capacity stands at 1,631 MW, solar at 2,157 MW, and wind at 3,574 MW, taking the share of renewables to 57 percent.

JSW Energy has a total locked-in generation capacity of 30.3 GW, comprising 13 GW operational, 12.7 GW under-construction across thermal and renewable and has a pipeline of 4.6 GW. The company also has 29.4 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity through hydro pumped storage projects of 26.4 GWh and a battery energy storage system of 3 GWh. The company aims to reach 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by FY 2030 and achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2050.
