JSW Energy Appoints Sharad Mahendra as CEO, Succession Effective February 2024

The decision to appoint Sharad Mahendra comes in the wake of a vacancy created by Prashant Jain's early retirement. The company clarified that Mahendra has been designated as a Whole-time Director (Joint Managing Director & CEO - Designate) from December 1, 2023. His appointment as a full-time director is effective from December 1, 2023, for a term of five years.
Sharad Mahendra, who previously served as the CEO of JSW Steel Coated Products Limited, a 100% subsidiary of JSW Steel Limited, will bring his extensive experience to his new role. He had a previous stint with JSW Energy as the Chief Operating Officer (Energy Business) in 2017, where he led various functions, including power sales, mining, corporate commercial, legal, coal procurement, regulatory, and corporate affairs.
In 2019, Mahendra was appointed as a full-time director of JSW Energy. Following this, he briefly left JSW Energy in 2020 to assume the role of CEO at JSW Steel Coated Products Limited.
