April 13, 2015. By Moulin

Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) has announced that its commitment to the "Give it Up" call made by Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister had appealed to Indian citizens, who can afford, to voluntarily let go of the domestic LPG subsidy as their personal contribution towards nation building. Immediately after the appeal made by the Prime Minister, JSPL's senior management led by its Chairman Shri Naveen Jindal came forward to participate in this unique initiative.

"As a progressive and forward looking organization committed to Build a Nation of our Dreams, we have appealed to all our employees to participate in this first-of-its-kind landmark initiative under leadership of our dynamic Prime Minister. I am glad to see the large scale response coming from our employees who have joined me in giving up domestic LPG subsidy as our personal contribution towards nation building_", Shri Naveen Jindal, Chairman - JSPL said. Shri Naveen Jindal has committed to carry the "Give It Up" call to all stakeholders of JSPL in order to catalyse the achievement target of one crore set by the Government of India.

Jindal Steel and Power made an appeal to it's over 20,000 employees to come forward and support the cause of nation building under the leadership of our Prime Minister. JSPL had launched a multi-media internal communications campaign to create awareness and facilitate participation of it's over 20,000 employees in the "Give It Up" call. In the coming days, the company plans to extend the outreach to the employment eco-system of 50,000 families that are associated with JSPL, as well as its over 1 lakh shareholders.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Rajeev Bhadauria, Group Director - JSPL said, _"JSPL has consistently participated in progressive causes of national interest and socio-economic development. In line with the tradition of the JSPL Group, we aim to carry the "Give It Up" message to all our stakeholders, and have started an internal campaign to facilitate formation of a common interest group encompassing professional and personal associates who can afford to give up domestic LPG subsidy."

Every domestic LPG cylinder we use carries a substantial subsidy, which translated to a huge annual burden on the Government of India. The savings from reduced subsidy bill towards domestic LPG can be used in other progressive development measures. Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had earlier appealed to Banks and Industrial Houses, alongwith their employees, to give up domestic LPG subsidy voluntarily. To be a part of #GiveItUp campaign, a written request can be submitted with the distributor or through an online application available on http://giveitup.in/.

In the recent past, JSPL has voluntarily taken up the cause of helping the Government to meet the fury of natural disasters be it in Odisha, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand or J&K to name a few. Recently, JSPL Foundation, which spearheads the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives of JSPL, joined hands with Habitat for Humanity India (HFHI) to re-build 20 homes for the flood affected people in the Kashmir Valley.
