Jordan Introduces Solar Rebate Plan for Residential Installations
Jordan's Ministry of Energy has launched an USD 11.2 million rebate plan, covering up to 30 percent of the costs for rooftop PV and solar thermal systems. Expected to support 9,000 installations, the initiative promotes renewable energy growth under the country’s net metering regime.

The Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has introduced a new rebate plan designed to encourage the installation of residential photovoltaic (PV) systems and solar thermal collectors.
As per the local media reports, the plan aims to cover up to 30 percent of the cost for homeowners who install either rooftop solar PV systems or solar thermal collectors. The plan, valued at JOD 8 million (approx. USD 11.2 million), offers financial assistance as well as partnerships with approved banks and local associations to help residents cover the remaining costs through flexible payment options.
This new plan is expected to facilitate the installation of 4,000 PV systems and 5,000 solar thermal systems across the country. It comes as part of Jordan's ongoing efforts to promote renewable energy and improve energy efficiency in the residential sector.
The funding for this initiative will be provided by the Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF), which will offer subsidies for eligible projects under the country's net metering regime. Under this arrangement, homeowners can generate their own electricity and reduce energy bills by selling excess power back to the grid.
The initiative builds on Jordan’s growing success in renewable energy development. By the end of 2023, the country had installed 1.99 GW of cumulative PV capacity, according to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). Jordan is recognised as a global leader in solar energy integration, with a significant share of its power now coming from utility-scale solar projects.
The rebate plan aligns with Jordan’s broader strategy to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels, expand its renewable energy portfolio, and meet its climate goals. By increasing the number of solar installations in homes, the government hopes to make clean energy more accessible to residents while supporting the country's transition to a sustainable energy future.
