JK Tyre and Industries Ltd. will procure power from a 5 MWp solar project in captive mode for a period of 25 years from STTY RE.
The company’s board has approved an investment of INR 1.22 crore to pick up 26 percent equity stake in STTY RE, in line with current captive power rules, the company stated in a regulatory filing.
“The company has been exploring the possibility of putting up the solar power project with various developers and has shortlisted STTY who has given a very competitive rate to put up a 5 MWp Solar Power Project under the Captive Power Route on behalf of the company,” it said.
The entire capex of approximately INR 15.59 Crore for the project would be met by STTY.
The company, in its Annual Report for FY2023-24, has mentioned that about 40 percent of energy consumption was fulfilled using renewable sources. In total, the company consumed about 12.73 lakh GJ of renewable energy in FY24. “A primary objective of the company is to incrementally increase the utilisation of renewable energy by 2-5 percent annually,” it said.
