JinkoSolar to Open World's Largest N-Type Solar Cell Plant in Saudi Arabia by 2026

JinkoSolar’s USD 1 billion Saudi factory, set to be the largest for N-type solar cells, aims to boost global production and leverage Saudi Arabia’s strong renewable energy market.

JinkoSolar, a solar panel manufacturer, is set to launch its ambitious solar cell and module production facility in Saudi Arabia by early 2026. This new plant will be the largest in the world dedicated to N-type solar cells, boasting an annual production capacity of 10 GW.

With a significant investment of around USD 1 billion, the facility will be JinkoSolar’s fourth overseas manufacturing unit, following similar ventures in Malaysia, Vietnam, and the United States.The Saudi Arabian plant represents JinkoSolar’s most substantial international investment to date and is expected to play a pivotal role in the company’s global expansion strategy.

According to Qian Jing, Vice-President of JinkoSolar, this facility will not only address growing local demand but also enable the company to export its advanced technology, patents, and services worldwide. Saudi Arabia has emerged as a prime location for renewable energy investments due to its stable conditions, robust industrial foundation, and supportive policies.

The country’s growing importance in the renewable energy sector is underscored by its exceptional solar irradiation potential, estimated at over 2,000 kWh per square meter annually. The new venture is a strategic move for JinkoSolar, enhancing its competitive edge in the global market. It also signifies a broader trend of international collaboration aimed at advancing climate change solutions.

Moreover, industry experts beleive that that such projects could significantly boost local solar manufacturing capabilities and reinforce the global presence of Chinese solar companies.

Further, as JinkoSolar plans to increase its market share to 20 percent in 2024 from 15 percent last year, the company is also setting its sights on becoming a leading player in energy storage within the next few years, further solidifying its position in the renewable energy industry.
