JinkoSolar Achieves Record 24.79% Conversion Efficiency for N-type Mono Cells

Adding another feather in its cap, solar cells, wafer and module manufacturer JinkoSolar has achieved a record 24.79 per cent conversion efficiency for the large-area N-type monocrystalline silicon solar cells.

Adding another feather in its cap, solar cells, wafer and module manufacturer JinkoSolar has achieved a record 24.79 per cent conversion efficiency for the large-area N-type monocrystalline silicon solar cells.

This was independently confirmed by the Institute for Solar Energy Research in Hamelin (ISFH), Germany. 

Commenting on the company’s achievement, Dr. Jin Hao, CTO of JinkoSolar, said that, “JinkoSolar has reached a key R&D milestone and our commitment towards technological innovation in silicon material, cell fabrication and module processing technologies has led to multiple world records for the efficiency of solar cells and modules.”

The company, which is also a member of the leading ‘Solar Module Super League’ (SMSL), said that the solar cell was fabricated on a high-quality CZ mono-Si substrate, with a practical size of 267.72cm2 and included passivated contact technologies, advanced diffusion and surface passivation. 

Dr. Hao further added that “we are very proud to break the world record with advanced large-area N-type cell in the world, and this innovative cell technology also holds the world record for PV module efficiency.”

Besides, the advanced anti-reflection technologies were also used in the development, and a series of material upgrades were integrated into the cell processes to achieve the 24.79 per cent conversion efficiency.

Recently, the company has also launched its utility-scale module series for 2020 i.e. ‘Tiger PRO’ modules with bifacial options, having three categories namely - 72 TR, 72 HC and 78 TR versions. This latest series of the company include a combination of TR (Tiling Ribbon) technology, 9-MBB and half-cut cell technologies, on M10 large-area (182mm x 182mm) p-type monocrystalline wafers, producing average module conversion efficiencies of 21.4 per cent, with up to 580-watt peak with the 78-cell TR module.
