JBM Group has partnered with Portugal-based Sodecia Automotive International SA to set up a hot stamping automotive systems facility in Pune. The foundation stone was laid at JBM’s Neel Metal Products plant in Chakan by Acharya Devvrat, Governor of Maharashtra and Gujarat, alongside senior leadership from both companies.

With an investment of INR 150 crore, the facility is expected to be operational by Q2FY27. It will manufacture safety-critical, lightweight, high-strength components for both ICE and electric vehicles, leveraging JBM’s four-decade manufacturing expertise and Sodecia’s advanced hot stamping technology.

Hot stamping, or press hardening, involves heating sheet metal and rapidly cooling it in dies to produce strong yet lightweight parts, a crucial technology for meeting environmental norms and advancing EV platforms.

S.K. Arya, Chairman of JBM Group, said the JV reflects a shared commitment to innovation, safety, and sustainable mobility, while Rui Monteiro, CEO of Sodecia, highlighted the opportunity to bring global expertise to India’s growing automotive market.

This collaboration strengthens JBM Group’s hot stamping ecosystem, complementing its existing facilities, including a dedicated die manufacturing unit at Greater Noida, and reinforces its position as a trusted partner to OEMs globally.
