JBM Auto Ltd has emerged as the leading player in India’s electric bus market, securing a 49 percent market share in May 2026, according to data from the Vahan portal. The company recorded 157 electric bus registrations during the month, the highest among all manufacturers.
The achievement strengthens JBM Auto’s position after it led the electric bus segment in FY26 by registering the highest number of e-buses nationwide. Its market share increased from 33 percent in April to 49 percent in May in FY27 year-to-date performance.
The company attributed the growth to its advanced manufacturing capabilities and focus on developing lightweight, high-strength electric bus platforms for sustainable public transport. The inclusion of Telangana’s vehicle registration data in the Vahan portal from May 2026 has also provided a more comprehensive picture of national market performance.
Commenting on the development, JBM Auto Vice Chairman and Managing Director Nishant Arya said that the company remains focused on decarbonising public transport through innovative, efficient and user-centric mobility solutions.
JBM Auto operates the world’s largest dedicated integrated electric bus manufacturing facility outside China, with an annual production capacity of 20,000 buses in the NCR region. Its electric buses have collectively covered over 400 million kilometres, transported more than one billion passengers and helped avoid over one billion kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions.
