Jakson Green announced an official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Deendayal Port Authority to create a cutting-edge green ammonia facility valued at INR 2,400 crore.
This innovative facility will be strategically located at Kandla Port in Gujarat and will be developed in a phased approach, with an estimated annual production capacity of 133,000 tonnes of green ammonia, as outlined in their press release.
Green ammonia plays a pivotal role in Jakson Green's sustainable energy vision, offering a substantial solution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, particularly in the maritime industry. Krishnan Kannan, the joint managing director of Jakson Green, emphasized the importance of this venture in mitigating emissions.
Under the MoU, the Deendayal Port Authority will extend support by facilitating Jakson Green in securing essential registrations, approvals, clearances, and various incentives.
The agreement was formally signed on the sidelines of the Global Maritime India Summit 2023, which aimed to address the critical issue of greenhouse gas emissions within the maritime sector.
With the maritime industry being a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, this collaboration underscores the potential of renewable energy in spearheading efforts to decarbonize the sector.
