Jaiprakash Power Ventures to Install 50 MW Solar Power Project in Madhya Pradesh

Jaiprakash Power Ventures has unveiled plans to establish a 50 MW solar PV plant at its existing 500 MW thermal power site at Bina in Madhya Pradesh with an estimated investment of INR 300 crore.

Jaiprakash Power Ventures has announced its plan to set up a 50 MW solar PV plant in Madhya Pradesh at an estimated investment of INR 300 crore.

“The company’s Board considered the proposal to explore the options for setting up of Solar PV Power Plant of approximately 50 MW capacity, subject to such approvals as may be required including that of lenders inter-alia, with an estimated investment of approximately INR 300 crore,” the company stated in a regulatory filing.

The proposed plant will be set up at the company's existing 500 MW Jaypee Bina Thermal Power Plant site at Bina, Madhya Pradesh.

The company is active in thermal and hydro power generation, coal mining, and cement grinding. It operates three power plants with a combined capacity of 2,220 MW: the 400 MW Vishnuprayag Hydro-Electric Plant in Uttarakhand, the 500 MW Jaypee Bina Thermal Power Plant in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, and the 1,320 MW Jaypee Nigrie Supercritical Thermal Power Plant in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh.

In addition, JP Power runs a 2 MTPA cement grinding unit at Nigrie and the 3.92 MTPA Amelia (North) Coal Mine in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh, secured via e-auction in 2015. The mine’s coal output is fully dedicated to fuelling the JNSTPP.
