On May 18, JA Solar unveil its first n-type PV module, DeepBlue 4.0 X, as part of its 2022 new product introduction event. This groundbreaking new product represents the company's first foray into the n-type PV market.

The DeepBlue 4.0 X series contains three module types adaptable to every scenario, based on the 182 wafer, which has the most developed supply chain and industry-wide recognition: 54-cell module for residential PV systems, 72-cell and 78-cell module for commercial and utility-scale PV projects.

DeepBlue 4.0 X has already passed the IEC 61215 and IEC 61730 tests, as well as salt mist, ammonia, sand, and dust testing, demonstrating its applicability for a wide range of applications and situations.

In addition to the benefits of DeepBlue 3.0 modules, DeepBlue 4.0 X incorporates the latest JA Solar technologies, such as the Bycium+ cell, which, thanks to its high-quality substrate and structure, can achieve mass production efficiency of more than 24.8 percent.

DeepBlue 4.0 X also includes the patented GFI (Gapless flexible interconnection) high-density module encapsulation technology, which uses around ribbon with buffer treatment and optimized encapsulation material to deal with mechanical stress at cell interconnections, reducing the risk of micro-cracking.

DeepBlue 4.0 X now has a greater level of dependability and energy yield, with a maximum power of 625W and up to 22.4 percent efficiency.

According to Kun Tang, Director of the Product Technology Department at JA Solar, the company has been working on n-type technology for years and is now ready for mass production following years of R&D and trial.

JA Solar and TÜV NORD launched a one-year (February 2021-February 2022) energy yield test at China Photovoltaic Test Center, Yinchuan base, to validate the product's power generation capabilities (Northwest China). The energy yield of the n-type module based on Bycium+ cells is 3.9 percent higher than that of the p-PERC modules, according to the findings.

According to JA Solar PV system modeling data, DeepBlue 4.0 X has a BOS cost reduction of 2.1 percent and an LCOE of 4.6 percent when compared to p-type modules, boosting the IRR and lowering the LCOE.
