India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF) and the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on technical and knowledge-led initiatives in solar energy and grid modernisation.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Mohammad Rihan, Director General, NISE, and Reji Kumar Pillai, President, ISGF, marking a strategic alignment between NISE’s research and technical expertise and ISGF’s work in smart grids, policy advocacy, and stakeholder engagement.
Under the agreement, the two organisations will jointly work on a wide range of focus areas, including grid integration of solar energy, smart inverters for distributed energy resources (DERs) integration with distribution grids, solar forecasting and digitalisation, rooftop solar coupled with battery energy storage systems (RTS+BESS), grid-interactive and solar-integrated buildings, solar and electric mobility integration, agrivoltaics, floating solar projects, and capacity building and knowledge sharing.
“By bringing together NISE’s technical and research expertise with ISGF’s work in smart grids, policy advocacy, and stakeholder engagement, this partnership will enable evidence-based solutions, standards adoption, and capacity building to support India’s long-term renewable energy and grid modernisation goals,” ISGF stated.
