The India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Long Duration Energy Storage Council (LDES Council) to strengthen collaboration on Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) solutions in India.

The MoU, signed at the ISGF office, will focus on policy and regulatory frameworks, LDES use-case mapping and deployment models, techno-economic and market assessments, demonstration and commercial projects, financing and business models, data and analytical tools, publications and knowledge products, stakeholder engagement and thought leadership, and international collaboration.

As part of the partnership, ISGF and LDES Council will also support the development of a Centre of Excellence on LDES. The collaboration will include a knowledge paper with ISGF examining India’s grid challenges and the role of LDES, supported by international examples, case studies and best practices.

In January 2026, ISGF and the Government of Gujarat signed an MoU at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Rajkot to jointly advance smart grids, digital power systems, and future-ready energy infrastructure across the state.

ISGF also signed an MoU with the National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) to jointly advance solar energy integration and grid modernisation through technical collaboration, digitalisation, and capacity-building initiatives.

Last year, the LDES Council and National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI) signed an MoU to accelerate renewable energy and long-duration energy storage deployment in India, strengthening collaboration on knowledge exchange, policy dialogue, capacity building, and joint advocacy.
