The International Solar Alliance (ISA) will convene the Sixth Regional Committee Meeting (RCM) for the Europe and Others Region from June 10–12, 2025, in Brussels, Belgium.
The summit will bring together government officials, industry experts, academic institutions, and private sector leaders to craft a unified vision for solar deployment on a global scale.
This year’s theme, “Elevating the Region’s Role in the Global Solar Transition,” underscores ISA’s commitment to positioning Europe and its partners as a key driver in scaling up solar adoption.
ISA Director General Ashish Khanna described the event as a pivotal moment in shaping the future of clean energy cooperation. He announced plans for the launch of a USD 200 million catalytic finance facility focused initially on Africa. The initiative aims to mobilize investment by mitigating risk, while also integrating ten national centers of excellence with a newly proposed Global Capability Centre based in India. This centre, envisioned as a Silicon Valley for solar innovation, will leverage artificial intelligence and digital tools to support ISA’s 123 Member and Signatory Countries.
The meeting is being strategically anchored by Germany and Italy, serving as regional Vice Presidents, with the support of the European Union and the Embassy of India in Belgium. ISA acknowledged the critical contributions of these partners in ensuring the success of the event, which will focus on capacity-building, policy innovation, and cross-border collaboration.
A key component of the Brussels summit will be the development of technology roadmaps and national policy frameworks tailored to the needs of ISA member countries. ISA estimates that over 80 percent of its members still require comprehensive solar strategies. The meeting will serve as a forum for policy dialogues, helping create robust solar ecosystems that can attract private investment and reduce regulatory barriers.
In addition, the summit will explore the digital transformation of the solar sector. AI-driven energy management systems, digital twins for infrastructure planning, and integrated e-procurement platforms will be spotlighted as key tools to reduce system costs and improve energy efficiency. These innovations are expected to help integrate variable renewable energy into national grids more smoothly and equitably.
ISA will also use the event to convene its CEO Caucus, a high-level dialogue platform aimed at mobilising private sector capital. As over 70 percent of global net-zero investments are projected to come from the private sector, this forum will help shape new co-investment models for emerging markets and frontier economies.
The Sixth RCM will culminate in a strategic roadmap that merges long-term vision with near-term actions, aligned with ISA’s Framework Agreement and global climate objectives. The regional committee for Europe and Others currently includes 15 Member Countries, 4 Signatory Countries, and 32 Prospective Countries, totaling 51 nations, marking a strong base for advancing multilateral solar initiatives.
Founded in 2015 by India and France at COP21 in Paris, the International Solar Alliance is the first international intergovernmental organisation headquartered in India. It has played a critical role in promoting solar power adoption, especially in Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Through policy support, demand aggregation, and financing solutions, ISA is actively working to unlock USD 1 trillion in solar investments by 2030 and help build a resilient, low-carbon energy future for all.
