The International Solar Alliance (ISA) will convene the seventh meeting of its Regional Committee for Europe and the Others Region in Brussels from June 10-12, bringing together member countries and institutional partners to strengthen cooperation on solar energy deployment, energy security and climate action.

The meeting comes as governments worldwide intensify efforts to accelerate the clean energy transition amid growing concerns over energy security, supply chain resilience and the need for affordable energy access.

Delegates are expected to discuss a broad range of issues extending beyond solar generation capacity, including energy storage, smart and digital grids, emerging technologies, artificial intelligence-enabled energy solutions and financing mechanisms to support developing economies.

According to ISA, countries and institutions from Europe and the Others Region possess significant expertise in finance, technology, innovation, industrial policy and development cooperation. Discussions will focus on how these strengths can be leveraged through ISA platforms to support solar deployment across Africa, Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and other emerging markets.

Key themes on the agenda include strengthening energy security through diversified and resilient solar supply chains, scaling energy storage and digital energy systems, operationalising trilateral cooperation initiatives such as Europe-Africa-India partnerships, expanding capacity-building programmes and aligning finance, policy and technology frameworks to accelerate implementation.

The regional committee meeting will also serve as a platform to discuss proposals for deeper institutional engagement and enhanced coordination with European partners in support of ISA's delivery-focused mandate.

The meeting will additionally mark the launch of a report titled "Battery Recycling Guidelines for ISA Member Countries: Advancing Circular Battery Value Chains."

The report comes as global battery demand has surpassed 1.5 TWh, highlighting growing concerns over end-of-life battery management and recycling infrastructure. ISA said the guidelines aim to help member countries develop circular battery value chains by promoting the recovery of critical minerals such as lithium, cobalt, nickel and copper through policy alignment, stakeholder collaboration and improved recycling systems.

The alliance said the gathering is intended to shift regional engagement from strategic dialogue to implementation, reinforcing ISA's role in accelerating solar energy deployment, strengthening energy resilience, and supporting sustainable development globally.
