Moving towards a sustainable future, Indian Oil Corporation has announced that it has inaugurated India’s first 24×7 solar-powered fuel retail outlet in Kochi, Kerala.

Sanjiv Singh, Chairman of IOC, who launched the outlet, also mentioned that Kerala is the first state in which all IOCL owned fuel outlets are completely automated.

“Automation ensures quality and builds the faith of the customer. Besides, it gives deep insights into the company into customer behaviour through data analytics. It also helps the dealer in stock reconciliation on a real-time basis,” said the chairman.

The name of the outlet is Jubilee Retail Outlet, Pongam and it is also the maximum selling IOCL outlet in Kerala because of its strategic location on NH 544.

By now, IOCL has installed solar panels on 313 outlets in Kerala under its sustainable development program.

The total installed capacity of solar power across all of IOCL outlets in Kerala has reached 1.5 MW. The solar capacity at this existing outlet is 50 KVA which had cost Rs 69 Lakh and is completely powering the outlet.

IOCL has a captive solar power project with a capacity of 4 MW at its Cauvery Basin Marketing Terminal in Muttam, in Nagapattinam district. The clean energy unit produces approximately 20000 units of solar power per day which is fed into the state’s grid.
