IntelliSmart Infrastructure, a digital infrastructure company, has received a Letter of Award (LoA) for a smart metering project from Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitran Company (MPPKVVCL) to install around 5.57 lakh smart meters across Indore and Ujjain regions of the state.
With this win, IntelliSmart has expanded its footprint into a new state, Madhya Pradesh. The company’s pan-India order book has now grown to approximately 2.28 crore smart meters, making it one of the largest in the industry. IntelliSmart is currently executing large scale smart metering projects across Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat and Bihar, and has already installed around 8 million smart meters to date.
Speaking on the development, Anil Rawal, MD and CEO of IntelliSmart, said, “Our expanding footprint across new geographies reflects our unwavering commitment to leading India’s power sector digitalisation and driving meaningful change at the grassroots. Smart metering is not just about technology; it is about empowering DISCOMs, improving consumer experience and building a stronger, more resilient energy ecosystem for the nation. We are confident that this project will play a pivotal role in accelerating Madhya Pradesh’s energy transformation under the RDSS (Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme) framework and we look forward to partnering with MPPKVVCL in this important journey.”
The project will be implemented across the districts of Indore, Ujjain, Ratlam, Agar, Khandwa, Barwani, Burhanpur, Dhar, Jhabua, Khargone, Mandsaur, Neemuch and Shajapur, covering a significant portion of western Madhya Pradesh.
IntelliSmart’s key differentiator is its ability to seamlessly provide end-to-end digital solutions to the utilities, deploy tailored consumer engagement programmes as per the project requirements and highly skilled manpower capable of deploying complex technologies on and off the field.
India aims to install 25 crore smart meters by 2028 under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), as part of the government’s broader mission to digitalise the power distribution sector. IntelliSmart is at the forefront of the world’s largest power sector digitalisation initiative under RDSS, aimed at enhancing the distribution sector’s operational efficiency, reducing aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) losses and strengthening the overall efficiency of the sector.
To date, India has installed over 6.15 crore smart meters, as per the National Smart Grid Mission portal. Madhya Pradesh, a key state in this national drive, has a sanctioned smart meter deployment target of 1.34 crore meters under RDSS.
