Instamart Expands EV Battery-Swapping Network with Yulu, Yuma

Instamart has announced plans to strengthen battery-swapping infrastructure for delivery partners through partnerships with Yulu and Yuma Energy, aiming to make electric two-wheelers more accessible for last-mile deliveries.

Under the partnership with Yuma Energy, Instamart is providing space at its PODs, or dark stores, for battery-swapping stations. The first such station was inaugurated earlier this month at an Instamart POD.

Yuma Energy currently operates more than 2,000 battery-swapping units, with each battery swap taking under two minutes. Instamart said delivery partners cover an average of more than 90 km a day, which can require two battery swaps. Locating swapping stations closer to PODs can save up to 60 minutes of travel and waiting time each day, according to the company.

As part of its collaboration with Yulu, Instamart is offering rental cashback incentives to delivery partners using Yulu electric two-wheelers for deliveries on the platform. The programme, launched in May 2026, has incentivised thousands of delivery partners and reduced rental expenses for participating partners by up to 30 percent.

Instamart, along with Swiggy, works with more than 50 EV partners across India to provide delivery partners with access to electric mobility. The company said its partnerships with Yulu and Yuma Energy are aimed at combining EV access, affordability and battery-swapping infrastructure to support electrification of its delivery fleet.
