Ingeteam has expanded its energy storage portfolio with the launch of the INGECON SUN STORAGE M Series, a new modular central inverter designed for utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) applications of up to 4.55 MW.

The three-phase bidirectional inverter supports battery voltage ranges of up to 1,500 Vdc without derating, enabling high performance under demanding operating conditions. It is designed for AC-coupled utility-scale storage systems and supports both Grid Following and Grid Forming applications, offering flexibility for different operating models and grid requirements.

According to the company, the new platform is based on a modular architecture that enhances system availability, simplifies operation and maintenance activities, and reduces lifecycle risks. The design also optimises battery connections, enabling higher output power with fewer units while adapting to different plant configurations.

The inverter incorporates liquid-cooling technology to improve thermal stability, efficiency and reliability in high-power applications. It is also complemented by a medium-voltage plug-and-play solution that simplifies plant design and accelerates installation and commissioning processes.

Ingeteam said that the INGECON SUN STORAGE M Series has been specifically developed for long-duration energy storage applications, which are becoming increasingly important for renewable energy integration and grid stability.

The product is currently being manufactured at the company's facility in Sesma, Navarra, Spain, and will be supplied to upcoming international utility-scale storage projects. Its official launch is scheduled during the Intersolar Europe trade show in Munich, where the company will showcase the new solution at its exhibition stand.

With the launch of the INGECON SUN STORAGE M Series, Ingeteam said that it is further strengthening its energy storage portfolio and advancing technologies aimed at improving the performance, flexibility and reliability of large-scale energy storage systems.
