Ingeteam has supported the development of one of Italy’s largest battery energy storage facilities, supplying power electronics and control systems for the 200 MW/800 MWh project now operational since September 2024.
The project is aimed at strengthening the stability and flexibility of Italy’s electricity grid as the country accelerates its energy transition. The facility is considered one of the largest battery energy storage systems in Italy and a major benchmark for the European storage sector.
As part of the project, Ingeteam supplied 54 plug-and-play medium-voltage power stations equipped with battery inverters, transformers, switchgear and auxiliary systems, along with seven power distribution units and advanced SCADA and PPC monitoring systems.
The company said that its monitoring platform uses machine learning capabilities to carry out predictive analysis and continuously track battery cell health, helping identify potential performance issues early.
“The completion of this project marks a turning point in our contribution to Italy’s energy transition,” said Stefano Domenicali, Vice-President and Managing Director of Ingeteam Italia. “Thanks to our technology and expertise, we are helping to build innovative energy infrastructure capable of meeting the growing challenges facing the energy sector. We are extremely proud to have been chosen for such an ambitious and strategically important project", he added.
