Ingeteam, a technology company, has further strengthened its presence in Australia’s renewable energy sector by providing cutting-edge technology and expertise for ACEN Australia’s Stubbo Solar Project in Central-West New South Wales.
The Stubbo Solar Project, under construction since late 2022, is nearing completion and is poised to generate enough renewable energy to power 185,000 average Australian homes annually. With a massive capacity of 400 MW, the facility spans 1,250 hectares and is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by 600,000 tonnes each year, aligning with the New South Wales Government’s ambitious goals to halve emissions by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2050.
For this flagship project, Ingeteam supplied over 300 power conversion units (PCUs) integrated into a turnkey, ready-to-install medium-voltage (MV) solution, as well as two Power Plant Controller (PPC) systems. These systems are vital for enabling grid operators to predict and manage the plant’s operations effectively. Additionally, Ingeteam provided comprehensive commissioning services to ensure seamless integration and performance.
As per the firm, incorporating sustainability at its core, the project’s design has integrated photovoltaic panels with sheep grazing activities, utilising land previously dedicated to agriculture in a symbiotic approach to land use.
Juan Miguel Gutierrez, Director of Ingeteam Australia, emphasised the dual significance of the project, saying, “The construction of ACEN Australia’s Stubbo Solar Project is great news for both Australia and Ingeteam. For Australia, it represents significant progress in decarbonising its energy mix. For us, it highlights our technological competitiveness, production capabilities, and expertise in grid simulation models required for Australian energy standards.”
Gopi Govindraj, Country Manager for PCL Construction’s Solar Division in Australia, praised the collaboration, saying, “PCL Construction’s Solar Division is incredibly proud to partner with ACEN Australia and Ingeteam on the Stubbo Solar Project. This marks a significant step forward in Australia’s sustainable energy development and decarbonization journey. We are excited to bring this project to life, contributing to the country’s net zero targets and brighter, greener communities.”
With a subsidiary in North Wollongong for over a decade, Ingeteam holds approximately 25 percent of Australia’s solar market share, positioning itself as a key partner for renewable energy projects. The company has consistently supported plant developers in meeting the technical and regulatory prerequisites for grid connection in Australia. Ingeteam’s role in Stage 1 of ACEN Australia’s New England Solar Project, operational for over a year, further solidifies its reputation for delivering reliable and efficient solar solutions.
As Australia accelerates its transition to renewable energy, the Stubbo Solar Project exemplifies the critical role of global partnerships and advanced technologies in achieving sustainable energy milestones.
