Infineon Technologies has introduced the XDP8HD40S-1 high-voltage hot-swap controller for 800 V direct-current (VDC) and ±400 V power architectures used in next-generation AI data centres.

The device enables safe connection and disconnection of power modules, converters, GPUs and server subsystems while providing power-path protection, monitoring and fault diagnostics.

The controller supports applications including high-voltage rack power delivery, intermediate bus converters, battery backup systems and peak shaving. It features programmable overvoltage and undervoltage protection, temperature monitoring, digital safe operating area control and a PMBus 1.5 interface for remote system management. Its integrated measurement capabilities support monitoring of voltage, current, power consumption and energy use.

Compatible with Infineon's OptiMOS MOSFETs and CoolSiC JFETs, the device extends the company's power semiconductor portfolio into protection and monitoring for high-density AI computing infrastructure. Samples are targeted for availability in the second quarter of 2027.
