Indofast Energy has launched a franchise programme to expand its electric vehicle (EV) battery swapping infrastructure across India, offering entrepreneurs and business owners potential annual returns of up to 30 percent.

The franchise initiative aims to increase access to EV charging and battery swapping infrastructure through a low-investment business model. Indofast Energy plans focused expansion in Tier-I and Tier-II cities, including Jaipur, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai.

Indofast Energy is a 50:50 joint venture between IndianOil Corporation and SUN Mobility. The company currently operates more than 200 franchise partner stations across over 12 cities. Under the programme, franchise partners can set up battery swapping stations with a minimum space requirement of around 250 square feet and an investment ranging from INR 10 lakh to INR 40 lakh.

The company offers three franchise formats: Swap Point, Swap Hub, and Swap Junction, allowing partners to select a model based on available space and investment capacity. According to the company, these formats deliver returns ranging from 1.7x to 2.7x on investment. Indofast Energy will provide end-to-end support, including site assessment, training, and operational assistance.

The programme also includes a referral model that allows existing partners to earn additional income by helping onboard new franchisees, the company said.

According to Indofast Energy, its battery swapping network has completed more than 44.5 million battery swaps and currently supports over 50,000 vehicles nationwide. The company stated that partners will benefit from automated operations, assured earnings through fixed returns and revenue sharing, and minimal operating involvement.
