Indofast Energy, India’s leading battery-swapping solutions provider, has achieved a major milestone by commissioning its 1,000th battery swap station at Mumbai’s Lokmanya Tilak Terminus. The company has built this extensive network in record time, making it the fastest roll-out of EV charging infrastructure of its kind in India.
With operations now spanning 10 states and 22 cities, Indofast has facilitated over 39 million battery swaps, powering more than 50,000 electric vehicles (EVs) and enabling them to collectively clock over 1.06 billion kilometres, the equivalent of circling the Earth 26,000 times. This transition has already helped avoid nearly 55,000 metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions, underscoring the company’s role in greening India’s mobility sector.
Delhi NCR leads the network with 332 stations, followed by Bengaluru (259) and Hyderabad (124). The infrastructure has proven especially critical for last-mile delivery fleets, where two-wheelers dominate battery swaps. With a two-minute swap time, riders complete more deliveries and boost earnings, while fleet operators cut downtime and costs.
“Setting up 1,000 swap stations is not just a milestone, it’s our mission to make EV adoption accessible, practical, and eco-friendly,” said Anant Badjatya, CEO of Indofast Energy, at the company’s 100-km Swap Parade in Bengaluru on World EV Day. “Our Battery-as-a-Service model eliminates range anxiety and charging delays, helping India’s gig workers and commuters choose electric mobility without compromise," he said.
Currently supporting 78,000 livelihoods, Indofast’s network partners include EV manufacturers like Zypp, Omega Seiki Mobility, and Shadowfax, along with infrastructure allies such as IOCL, Indian Railways, BESCOM, and MMRC.
Looking ahead, Indofast plans to scale up to 2,750 stations and 1.5 lakh EVs by March 2026, while expanding into five new cities, Chennai, Mumbai, Jaipur, Pune, and Agra. Its long-term roadmap targets 10,000 swapping points across 40+ cities within three years, making battery-swappable EVs the most convenient and cost-effective mobility choice in India.
