The German Energy Storage Association (BVES) and the India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to work together to advance the energy storage industry in both Germany and India.

According to Prof. Dr. Eicke R. Weber, President of the BVES "India is one of the most rapidly emerging markets with a clear perspective towards increasing the contribution of renewable energy in the energy mix. This has to be accompanied by the availability of low-cost reliable storage systems. The German BVES looks forward to cooperate with the IESA in furthering this process in India".

Dr. Rahul Walawalkar, Executive Director, IESA, agrees that collaboration between these two groups will benefit a wide range of stakeholders. "Through this agreement and others, the IESA will promote the benefits of storage technologies through education initiates and awareness campaigns. Germany has a strong tradition of technological innovation and manufacturing excellence, we look forward to applying lessons learned from storage installations in Germany, to make the Indian energy and power sector more competitive, efficient and reliable.”

In an effort to introduce storage industry stakeholders to the Indian market, the IESA will be host the Energy Storage India (ESI) from December 4th-6th, in Mumbai, India. The ESI is the leading conference and expo addressing the need for energy storage solutions in India. ESI will be the first international energy storage conference and exhibition in India to focus exclusively on applications, customers and deal making. It is poised to provide a first-class networking event to drive energy storage market expansion in profitable applications – highlighting the synergies, inter-relationships and new business opportunities for transmission, distribution, customer-sited, microgrids/campuses and mobility (electric vehicle charging) applications.
