IndiGrid has announced the successful commissioning of its 180 MW/360 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Gujarat.
The project has been developed jointly by IndiGrid and EnerGrid, with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL) serving as the off-taker.
According to IndiGrid, the installation is among India’s largest standalone utility-scale BESS projects at a single location and is aimed at enhancing grid stability, facilitating higher renewable energy integration, and supporting the country’s ongoing energy transition efforts.
The project is designed to provide flexible and responsive energy storage capabilities, helping manage intermittency associated with renewable power generation while strengthening the reliability of the electricity network.
“This milestone reflects the tremendous effort, resilience, and collaboration of the teams and partners involved in delivering a state-of-the-art and innovatively engineered infrastructure project of this scale – contributing towards a more resilient, flexible, and future-ready power ecosystem for India,” stated the company.
