India’s DCR Module Output Reaches 17.87 GW

India’s production of Domestic Content Requirement (DCR)-compliant solar modules has reached 17.87 GW, while cumulative sales have stood at 16.99 GW, according to the latest figures from the National Institute of Solar Energy’s (NISE) DCR Verification Portal.

The portal recorded module manufacturing of 17,868.02 MW and sales of 16,986.84 MW. The difference between the two figures stood at about 881 MW.

The NISE dashboard also tracks DCR-compliant solar cell and module manufacturing, sales and stock activity, along with DCR certificates issued under the verification system.

According to the portal data provided, 18 solar cell manufacturers and 137 solar module manufacturers were listed on the platform. The dashboard also showed 52,477 solar cell and module stock entries and more than 7.09 million DCR certificates generated.

Solar module production increased through much of 2026. Monthly output was around 1.7 GW in January, rising to 1.8 GW in February and 2 GW in March. Production declined to about 1.6 GW in April before recovering to nearly 1.9 GW in May.

Output crossed 2.3 GW in June and July, before reaching around 2.5 GW in August, the highest monthly production recorded in the figures provided.

Sales showed a different monthly pattern, crossing 2.3 GW in March and reaching approximately 2.4 GW in June, before moderating in the subsequent months.

The production and sales figures are separate indicators on the DCR portal and should not be treated as a direct measure of finished-module inventory. The portal maintains separate stock data for solar cells and modules.

The latest figures show DCR-compliant module manufacturing nearing 18 GW, reflecting the scale of domestic module production captured through the NISE verification system.
