India is set to invest INR 36.6 lakh crore in green projects by 2030. This is a five-fold increase from the amount spent during fiscal 2017-2023, according to the rating agency CRISIL.

The nation’s green ambitions are highlighted by this investment in sustainable initiatives. The investment in green projects is part of a larger infrastructure plan, with India set to spend nearly INR 143 lakh crore on infrastructure between 2024 and 2030.

The investment is expected to play a pivotal role in the country’s growth, with an emphasis on sustainability. The government’s first sovereign green bond issuance is expected to pave the way for the development of the domestic bond market for green issuances.

CRISIL expects that India's gross domestic product will grow at an average of 6.7 percent through fiscal year 2031, making it the fastest-expanding large economy.
