India's Renewable Energy Capacity Reaches 288.58 GW as of June 2026: Shripad Yesso Naik

India's installed renewable energy capacity has increased nearly fourfold from 76.38 GW in 2014 to 288.58 GW as of June 30, 2026, while total non-fossil fuel-based power capacity has reached 297.36 GW, MoS MNRE Shripad Yesso Naik informed the Rajya Sabha.

India's installed renewable energy capacity stood at 288.58 GW as on June 30, 2026, up from 76.38 GW in 2014, stated Union Minister of State for the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Shripad Yesso Naik, in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha.

Among renewable energy sources, solar power accounted for the largest share with 162.15 GW, followed by wind power at 57.44 GW, large hydro at 57.24 GW, and bio power at 11.75 GW.

Including 8.78 GW of nuclear power, the country's total installed non-fossil fuel-based electricity capacity has reached 297.36 GW as of June 30, 2026.

Naik also stated that the renewable energy sector has attracted USD 45.72 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) between FY 2014 and FY 2026.

During the same period, domestic financial institutions – including 12 public sector banks, IREDA, Power Finance Corporation (PFC), REC, India Infrastructure Finance Company (IIFCL), National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NaBFID), and SIDBI – have deployed INR 12.32 lakh crore towards the renewable energy sector, stated Naik.
