India, EU Seek Deeper Cooperation on Emerging Energy Tech
India and the EU have discussed expanding power-sector cooperation across energy storage, green hydrogen, nuclear technologies, digital power systems and carbon markets during MoS MNRE Shripad Naik’s bilateral meeting with a delegation from the European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) in New Delhi.

Minister of State for Power and New and Renewable Energy Shripad Naik held a bilateral meeting with a delegation from the European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) in New Delhi to review ongoing cooperation and identify areas for deeper engagement.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on ongoing initiatives and explored avenues to deepen collaboration, building on the strong momentum in India-EU relations, including the significant progress achieved in the India-EU Free Trade Agreement.
The discussions covered energy security, power sector transformation, low-carbon development, nuclear energy, carbon markets and emerging technologies. The two sides explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration in long-duration energy storage, digital power-system technologies, green hydrogen, carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), and nuclear technologies, including Small Modular Reactors (SMRs).
Naik highlighted India’s efforts to expand non-fossil fuel capacity, strengthen transmission and distribution infrastructure, deploy energy storage and smart-grid solutions, and advance nuclear energy, energy efficiency and green hydrogen.
The delegation also exchanged views on carbon markets and the evolving carbon-pricing landscape, including the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to continued engagement, expertise-sharing and technological and institutional cooperation to support secure, resilient and sustainable energy systems.
