India Energy Week (IEW) 2026 commenced with high-level keynote addresses that reinforced the event’s growing stature as a premier global platform for advancing dialogue, investment and action in the energy transition.
The inaugural session featured keynote addresses by Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Managing Director and Group CEO of ADNOC Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, along with a welcome address by Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. Speakers highlighted the conclave’s role in translating ambition into outcomes and innovation into implementation amid a rapidly evolving global energy landscape.
Delivering the keynote address, Minister Puri outlined India’s steady progress towards energy security, self-reliance and climate justice under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said India Energy Week has quickly evolved into a trusted global forum that brings together policymakers, producers, consumers, technology providers and investors to navigate unprecedented transition and volatility in the global energy system.
Emphasising that the energy transition is fundamentally about “energy addition” rather than replacement, the Minister called for sustained investment across oil, gas, biofuels, green hydrogen, LNG and clean cooking fuels. He highlighted India’s reforms-driven approach to ensuring availability, affordability and sustainability, citing the opening of large sedimentary basins for exploration, successive Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP) and Discovered Small Fields (DSF) bidding rounds, and continued policy reforms aimed at attracting global investors. He also pointed to the rapid expansion of LPG coverage, clean cooking access and a diversified energy mix as reflections of India’s commitment to inclusive growth and equitable energy access.
Addressing the gathering, Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber said global energy demand is entering a phase of large-scale transformation, driven by emerging markets, digitalisation and the integration of diverse energy systems. He noted that India is at the centre of these megatrends and will be a decisive driver of global energy demand in the decades ahead. Warning that underinvestment poses the greatest risk to the global energy system, Dr Al Jaber called for balanced investment across all forms of energy to ensure security, affordability and sustainability. He reaffirmed the strength of the UAE–India energy partnership, highlighting ADNOC’s role as a reliable supplier of crude, LNG and LPG to India and underscoring the UAE’s commitment to long-term, trust-based collaboration.
Welcoming delegates, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said India Energy Week 2026 has emerged as a global platform that converts ideas into action. As the host state, Goa showcased its vision for sustainable development, including a long-term roadmap to achieve 100 per cent renewable energy by 2050. He also stressed the importance of balancing the green economy with the blue economy, ensuring environmental sustainability alongside responsible use of ocean resources.
Across the inaugural addresses, India Energy Week 2026 underscored India’s positioning as a responsible global energy leader, with speakers calling for stronger international cooperation, innovation and investment mobilisation to accelerate the global energy transition.
