Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys (IMFA) has announced that the company has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with EG Urja Strot, a SPV of Enfinity Global, to procure 65 MW of hybrid renewable power for 29 years under the captive mode.
The power will be supplied from a hybrid renewable energy project comprising 81.4 MW of solar, 102.6 MW of wind and 25 MW of BESS capacity.
To qualify as a captive consumer, IMFA will pick up a 26 percent stake in EG Urja Strot for an investment of INR 110.18 crore in one or more tranches, the company said in a regulatory filing. The acquisition is scheduled to be completed by June 2027.
The company stated that the latest agreement builds on its previously announced 70 MWp hybrid renewable energy procurement arrangement with JSW Energy, which is slated to begin in the second quarter of FY27. With this addition, its total contracted renewable energy capacity has risen to 135 MW.
The transition is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 1.6 lakh tonnes annually and around 45 lakh tonnes over the life of the agreement, while increasing the share of renewable energy in its overall energy mix to nearly 40 per cent in the next fiscal year, stated the company.
