IIT Kanpur, Power Foundation of India Sign MoU to Set Up Chair in Power Sector Policy
IIT Kanpur and Power Foundation of India’s initiative aims to promote research, teaching and policy engagement in the power sector while strengthening collaboration between academia, policymakers and industry stakeholders.

Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur and the Power Foundation of India have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a distinguished chair professorship focused on power sector regulation and policy.
The initiative aims to promote research, teaching and policy engagement in the power sector while strengthening collaboration between academia, policymakers and industry stakeholders.
The agreement was signed by Anshuman Srivastava, Executive Director at PFI, and Raja Angamuthu, Associate Dean (Research and Development) and Acting Dean of Resources and Alumni at IIT Kanpur.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Raja Angamuthu highlighted that the MoU marks a significant step for IIT Kanpur and will further strengthen the institute’s engagement in the energy domain. He noted that the Chair Professorship will contribute to building a strong foundation for research, education, and policy development in the power sector.
Srivastava said the partnership would help advance research in power sector policy and contribute to informed decision-making.
Officials said the collaboration is expected to strengthen cooperation between academia and industry, including public sector companies, and support the development of sustainable solutions for India’s power sector.
