IESA’s Dr. Walawalkar Wins ‘Global Young Entrepreneur Excellence Award 2020’

The Energy and Environment Foundation Global Excellence Awards was introduced in 2011 by the Energy and Environment Foundation to recognize excellence, innovation, best practices and entrepreneurship and honor individuals for their excellent contributions, commitment, professionalism, and actions that have made a positive impact on the environment.

Dr. Rahul Walawalkar, who is the President & MD of Customized Energy Solutions (CES) India and the President of India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) has won the ‘Global Young Entrepreneur Excellence Award 2020’ for his valuable contribution & leadership in the field of energy storage and renewable energy at the ongoing Virtual 11th World Renewable Energy Technology Congress & Expo (WRETC).

The Energy and Environment Foundation Global Excellence Awards was introduced in 2011 by the Energy and Environment Foundation to recognize excellence, innovation, best practices and entrepreneurship and honor individuals for their excellent contributions, commitment, professionalism, and actions that have made a positive impact on the environment.

On winning the award, Dr. Rahul Walawalkar, President & MD, CES India and President, IESA said that, “I am honored to receive the Energy and Environment Foundation’s ‘Global Young Entrepreneur Excellence Award 2020’ in energy storage and renewable energy category. It has been a remarkable journey over past 16 years as renewable energy and other emerging technologies such as energy storage have matured around the globe. I have been fortunate to get an opportunity to enter this field at the right time and learn from experts and thought leaders. It has been a privilege to lead IESA for the past 8 years and help shape the regulatory and policy framework for advanced energy storage technologies. I would like to thank my IESA team and colleagues from Customized Energy Solutions for being part of this transformational effort.”

He further added “CES is accrediting the way emerging technologies are adopted by electricity industry around the globe. I take this opportunity to congratulate my team members for their collective effort as we strive to make India a global hub of R&D and manufacturing of advanced Energy Storage & EV technologies.”

Dr. Rahul Walawalkar is also the recipient of ‘Brad Roberts Award’ that recognizes outstanding industry contribution conferred by the US Energy Storage Association.
