I-U-KAN Forum to boost service delivery improvements in Power Utility PPP models

The 2nd Annual Conference under I-U-KAN forum gets underway at The Le Meridien, Delhi on February 13, 2014 with a focused agenda on “operational challenges and best practices” to help utility operators to learn and make improvements in their areas including strategy, policy, contract, services and operations, with theme as “Complementing Reforms Bottom-up: Through Improved Operationalization and Engaged Local Ecosystem” for Power and Water Distribution utilities (including Waste Water).
This conference will be a gathering of thought leaders, private operators, public utilities, vendors, regulators, and professionals working in a fast emerging segment of PPPs in utility sector. The conference is also a discussion platform for Investors, Government departments, nodal agencies and bilateral agencies who want to appreciate the industry challenges, brain storm on process improvements, de-risk their cash flows and build standards for service delivery improvements & institutionalization in the PPP model.
IUKAN 2014 will have a day-long, power packed schedule with a number of panel discussions taking place, with participation from over 45 utility veterans such as Prabhakar Kukde (Ex Director Tata Power, Ex Technical Director MSEB), Sunil Wadhwa (CEO, IL&FS Energy), Reji Kumar Pillai (President, ISGF), Dr. Smita Misra (World Bank), Mr. Anand Sahasranaman (Head IFMR Foundation), Patrick Rousseau (MD, Veolia), M S Unnikrishnan (MD, Thermax), and around 300+ business leaders and functional heads as delegates from the utility industry.
This year IUKAN will host two separate tracks focusing on Power Distribution and Water distribution. Key topics being covered at power and water track includes- Thriving of local ecosystem (Political, Law-Enforcement & Media), Benchmarking Operational Performance of various PPPs, Evaluating Franchisee Models, Innovating Outsourcing for internal and external Providers, Customer Services as a Marketing Function, Financing Loss Reduction and Leveraging long term private Debt Finance in utilities.
Along with the conference, the forum, this year introduces the “Utility Best Practice Awards 2014” aimed to recognize practical and innovative ways employed by utility operators, their business partners and stakeholders to drive improvements in systems and service delivery to end consumers. The Awards intend to bring a paradigm shift in the way a utility looks at its Grounds Team, which are the actual Asset / Wealth Manager for the utility. Along with acknowledgment to industry’s best practices, select entries would be published in a Best Practice Journal, to be released at the conference on 13th Feb, 2014.
