Gurgaon-based hydrogen firm Hygenco Green Energies Pvt. Ltd. has announced the launch of one of India’s largest renewable energy tenders, inviting bids for over 1.1 GW of renewable energy to power its Green Ammonia Project.
The firm stated in its press note that the tender seeks 625 MW from solar PV projects and 500 MW from wind power. The tender, aimed at sourcing renewable energy for green ammonia production, offers favorable terms to minimise risks for developers, ensuring a transparent and competitive bidding process. It is designed to attract a diverse range of participants in the renewable energy sector and is expected to play a key role in advancing India's low-carbon economy.
Amit Bansal, Co-Founder and CEO of Hygenco, emphasised the company’s ambition to scale up India’s green hydrogen and ammonia markets. "This 1 GW-plus tender is one of many firsts for us, highlighting our commitment to driving India’s energy transition and achieving the country’s climate goals," said Bansal.
Green ammonia, produced using renewable energy, is seen as a vital component in the global energy transition. The green ammonia market is projected to grow to USD 17.9 billion by 2030 as industries increasingly shift away from fossil fuels. Hygenco’s large-scale procurement will significantly contribute to the National Green Hydrogen Mission, which aims to position India as a global leader in green hydrogen by 2030.
