Huawei Digital Power has launched its FusionSolar 9.0 Smart PV Solution in Dubai, introducing a new utility scale solar technology designed to strengthen grid stability as renewable energy capacity continues to expand across the Middle East and Central Asia.

The solution was unveiled during the FusionSolar Technical Innovation Summit held recently, bringing together policymakers, utilities, developers, EPC companies, consultants and industry experts to discuss the region's energy transition and the growing need for resilient, intelligent and stable electricity grids.

The summit featured discussions on renewable energy integration and future grid requirements. Aleksi Lumijarvi from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) highlighted the increasing importance of around the clock renewable energy systems and dispatchable clean power in meeting rising electricity demand. Dr. Abdulla Ismail of RIT University Dubai outlined the UAE's renewable energy strategy and the challenges of integrating larger volumes of renewable energy into the national grid, while Nofel Dakhel of SJ Group presented Oman's renewable energy roadmap.

Huawei said that FusionSolar 9.0 has been developed for utility scale photovoltaic projects and combines string inverter technology, grid forming capabilities, intelligent digital management and enhanced reliability to improve power system stability and operational efficiency.

The company also showcased regional project experiences during the event. Saleh El Haj Youssef of PowerChina HDEC discussed the application of string inverters in ADQ projects, while Antonio Diaz of EDF shared insights from the UAE PV3 project, highlighting plant performance and system design.

Alex Xing, President of Huawei Digital Power Middle East and Central Asia, said that the region is entering a new phase of renewable energy development where reliability, grid stability and intelligent digital technologies are becoming as important as efficiency. He added that Huawei remains committed to innovation and collaboration with customers and partners to develop resilient, intelligent and sustainable energy systems. According to Xing, the launch of FusionSolar 9.0 reflects the company's commitment to supporting the region's energy transition with technologies that deliver greater value throughout the lifecycle of solar power plants.

Technical sessions at the summit focused on maintaining grid stability as renewable energy penetration increases. Dr. Carlos Alvarez of Huawei presented developments in grid forming technology, including simulation studies carried out in Saudi Arabia, validation testing in Germany and recently published technical assessments.

The event concluded with the release of independent reports evaluating Huawei's grid forming technology. Nikola Djeric, Associate Director at Go2Power, presented an assessment of Huawei's string inverter grid forming capabilities, while Pranav Patel, Team Lead for Solar Technology and Analytics at DNV for Southern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, shared findings on the long term performance and reliability of the company's string inverter technology.

Huawei said that FusionSolar 9.0 combines digital management, smart photovoltaic systems and grid forming capabilities to support the development of resilient, efficient and low carbon energy infrastructure across the Middle East and Central Asia.
