Hoymiles Launches HiSwitch and HiBox to Simplify Expandable Whole-Home Energy Backup

Hoymiles has recently launched the brand-new HiSwitch and HiBox gateway – designed to work with the HiOne All-in-One Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for off-grid switching to make whole-home backup simpler, more expandable and more practical.

Integrating transfer switch, circuit breaker, meter, bypass switch and CT, the five-in-one HiSwitch delivers a compact whole-home backup solution with fewer components, cabling and labor. Comparable in size to a standard electricity meter, it is installed directly inside the distribution board via a DIN-rail design, eliminating wall drilling and extensive cable rerouting.

With a 100 A maximum bypass current, HiSwitch supports range of loads, from lighting and kitchen appliances to other high-power devices.

HiSwitch is designed to deliver reliable backup performance, with 6,000 high-current switching cycles and a 6 kA short-circuit current rating (SCCR) to support dependable backup transitions and enhanced protection against unexpected electrical faults. Its minimal replaceable design allows installers to replace only the HiSwitch in the event of a fault, eliminating the need to replace the entire energy storage system. This design can also enable up to 80 percent shorter replacement times, helping reduce system downtime and after-sales service costs.

HiBox serves as a central hub for whole-home backup while allowing the energy system to expand as household needs grow.

The system offers an expandable design, allowing users to add a second inverter to increase capacity and backup capability as their energy requirements grow. It also supports multiple power sources, including compatible third-party generators and PV inverters, while enabling comprehensive data monitoring without requiring additional metering equipment. In addition, its smart load control feature enables intelligent management of loads connected through the Smart Port, helping homeowners maximise the use of available clean energy.
