HORA eTec GmbH officially took over Rebmann GmbH from Eberdingen near Stuttgart. The company from Bünde in eastern Westphalia is thus pushing ahead with the expansion of its "plugs and sockets" product segment. On 45 rotary transfer machines with a fully automated parts finishing system and several automatic assemblies and screwdriving machines, the specialist for customer-specific machined parts for electrical engineering is able to meet almost all customer requirements. The acquisition of Rebmann GmbH will further secure and strengthen the existing jobs in Bünde and Eberdingen. In the future, HORA eTec will establish a Center of Excellence in Eberdingen.

The ink is dry, the takeover agreement signed, officially since August 17, 2021, Rebmann GmbH from Eberdingen in Swabia has been a wholly owned subsidiary of HORA eTec GmbH from Bünde in eastern Westphalia. From now on, HORA eTec will manage it under the name HORA eTec Connectivity GmbH. "This acquisition offers a great opportunity to strengthen our position in numerous future-oriented industries such as building installation technology, energy distribution and e-mobility," explains Dirk Niestrat, Managing Director of HORA eTec. "Driven by the advancing digitalization and further networking of buildings - in the form of smart homes, machines through the Internet of Things and e-mobility - high-quality connectors and jack systems are more in demand than ever. With this acquisition, we are complementing and expanding our portfolio in a targeted manner." In the future, HORA eTec will offer its customers significantly more products and services from a single source.

Founded as a small family business in 1963, Rebmann GmbH has developed over the past decades into an internationally active specialist in the manufacture of technically and qualitatively sophisticated precision turned parts. These include high-quality brass products for contact sockets, connector pins, crimp contacts and terminals. In 2020, the company generated sales of more than four million euros. Among its global customers are renowned market leaders in the electrical engineering industry.

The broad portfolio includes all services from the procurement of conflict-free raw materials to the efficient production of different batch sizes and geometries. "Furthermore, we can support our customers with our many years of engineering expertise to optimize parts for production," says Niestrat. In combination with the parent company HORA eTec and its joint ventures, the company can offer customer-specific, demanding geometries and different batch sizes at a best-cost ratio.

HORA eTec GmbH intends to use this experience and know-how to establish a center of excellence for bushing and connector systems at its Eberdingen site. In this way, too, the acquisition of Rebmann GmbH will secure local jobs in the long term and even strengthen them.

The topics of environmental protection and sustainability will play an important role in the future: special attention will be paid to the development of lead-free alloys. The use of more than 0.1 percent lead in corresponding brass components is regulated in the EU according to the so-called RoHS Directive (Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment). Depending on the product category of the end products, this directive permits the use of brass containing lead during a transitional period until 2024. "At present, the relevant political requirements are still missing for the further process and for a binding follow-up regulation. One thing is clear: we are consistently focusing on the issue of sustainability and are already taking the lead in this for our customers," emphasizes Niestrat.

"With the takeover, our family business has been given the opportunity to act in the market in a future-proof and strengthened manner," says René Rebmann, who will actively accompany the transition and continue to be involved in the operational business as a contact person: "With HORA eTec, we have found the perfect partner. We will grow together in the market and thus secure jobs in the region."
