Honeywell has introduced a suite of advanced artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled solutions to boost energy sector by enhancing efficiency, productivity, and plant autonomy.
To this end, Honeywell integrates AI to address key challenges such as the shortage of skilled talent and the demand for greater operational efficiency. As the firm said in its note, "With decades of industry knowledge and access to deep domain data, the company’s AI-enabled solutions are designed to enhance operational workflows, improve worker productivity, and accelerate decision-making processes."
Dwelling on the products, the note added that the company’s latest AI-powered technologies, including its flagship ‘Honeywell Forge’ platform, offer real-time insights, optimise decision-making, and help automate industrial processes. "These innovations promise to enhance both workforce productivity and plant operations by providing comprehensive AI experiences for operators on the ground, managers in control rooms, and executives overseeing enterprise-level operations," said the note.
Other products, such as Honeywell's 'Experion Operations Assistant', one of the highlighted AI tools, incorporates explainable AI into industrial processes, helping operators quickly identify and address production issues. It provides step-by-step guidance, which not only resolves problems faster but also enables less experienced workers to develop expertise by leveraging Honeywell's extensive industry knowledge.
“As the industrial workforce experiences a skills and experience gap globally, the worker is still an integral part of the automation journey,” said Lucian Boldea, President and CEO of Honeywell Industrial Automation. “Honeywell’s technologies are enabled by AI to help improve the performance of the industrial workforce – enabling workers to increase efficiency and rapidly accelerate their time to expertise," he pointed out.
In addition to the 'Experion Operations Assistant', Honeywell has also launched the ‘Field Process Knowledge System (PKS)’, a web-based application for supervisors and mobile interfaces for field workers. "This system consolidates all field-related activities—including operations, maintenance, permits, and documentation—into one platform, allowing for safer and more efficient workflows," said the firm in its note.
Honeywell’s existing 'Experion PKS' distributed control system has also been enhanced with AI capabilities. The new features include predictive advisories, troubleshooting recommendations, and engineering support, which ensure faster project startups and continuous system optimisation. The integration of AI in the system allows for real-time issue detection and resolutions, maintaining optimal production levels.
Furthermore, as per the firm, the company is advancing its ‘Honeywell Production Intelligence’ platform, which merges Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) data to deliver near real-time insights. This platform includes predictive modules to preemptively tackle production issues, ensuring smoother operations across facilities.
Besdides this, Honeywell has also partnered with Chevron to develop AI solutions specifically for refining operations. This collaboration is expected to introduce advanced AI tools focused on enhancing production efficiencies and reducing operational risks.
