Honda Power Pack Energy India Pvt. Ltd. (HEID), Honda Motor Co., Ltd.’s subsidiary for battery swap service, announced that the company will launch the Honda e:Swap services for ACTIVA e: in Bengaluru from February 2025 and in New Delhi and Mumbai from April 2025 onwards.

Once launched, users can access the battery swap stations by registering for membership on HEID’s mobile App in conjunction with the purchase of a vehicle.

The launch event of ACTIVA e: was held on November 17, 2024, where both parties celebrated the vehicle launch and new value proposition from Honda to take a significant step forward in line with Honda’s global vision to achieve carbon neutrality.

The company in a statement has shared that HEID will start its battery swap service for two-wheelers in Delhi NCR and Mumbai in April 2025. This will enable HEID to offer battery swap services to more customers across three major cities in India. HEID will continuously expand the number of stations to meet the growing number of users with 250 battery swapping stations in Bengaluru, 150 in Delhi and 100 in Mumbai by March 2026.

Commenting on the development, Takuya Taniguchi, President and CMD, Honda Power Pack Energy India said, “HEID would focus on three actions, which are continuously expanding its battery swap network, ensuring the reliable service with a highly integrated system monitoring every unique battery and exchanger, and supporting customers to ensure superior battery swap experience. HEID contributes toward the realisation of carbon neutrality and a greener future of India by pursuing the penetration of battery swap solutions.”

In November 2021, HEID was established to begin battery swap service in India starting with electric auto rickshaws. HEID’s battery swap service enables its users to swap their discharged batteries (Honda Mobile Power Pack e:) with fully charged ones at their nearest battery swapping stations. The use of this service significantly reduces the initial cost of purchasing EV due to ownership of battery by HEID, as well as reduces concern about range anxiety and running out of batteries.

HEID has already set up its battery exchangers (Honda Power Pack Exchanger e:) at strategic locations by partnering with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL), Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (DMRC), Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd. and HMSI dealerships, and operated them for two-wheelers and Electric auto rickshaws which applies Honda Mobile Power Pack e:.

HEID aspires to create the largest battery swap network in these three cities and to provide the highest-quality battery swap service with proven Honda’s belief of quality. “Customer will experience smooth and hassle-free battery swap by the state-of-the-art technology of Honda Power Pack Exchanger e: and feel high level of safety by robust Honda Mobile Power Pack e:, which is monitored and cooled down by Honda Power Pack Exchanger e: to keep batteries in optimum conditions. Furthermore, HEID monitors all batteries and battery exchangers by cloud system, Honda Power Pack Cloud, to ensure that the entire battery network works well,” noted the statement.

To ensure the expansion of the business, HEID raised funding in August 2024, which provided the additional INR 2.2 billion required for such business expansion.
