Hitachi, Godrej bags Frost & Sullivan Annual India Electronics & Appliances Industry Award

Frost & Sullivan hosted its 3rd Annual India Electronics & Appliances Industry Awards 2014 on August 6, 2014 at The Imperial in New Delhi. The awards recognize and celebrate companies that create hallmarks of excellence in this high-growth, innovation-driven industry. It not only brings recognition, but also creates a platform to share best practices and inspirational stories within the Indian electronics industry. Mr. Sam Pitroda, Chairman, National Innovation Council addressed the gathering through Skype from the US on topics of innovation and excellence in the Indian electronics industry. During his speech, he laid particular emphasis on the need to build solid hardware manufacturing competencies in the country, which would subsequently seed indigenous hardware innovation. He also emphasized that these present times are opportune for India to assert itself on the global electronics stage so that the country may become an industry leader in future.

Industry experts like Mr. Sanjay Nayak, Co-founder and CEO of Tejas Networks, Bangalore and Mr. Sanjiv Narayan, Managing Director, SGS Tekniks Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd. shared their insights on the need for greater innovation and value addition in the electronics industry within the country.

The Indian electronics industry, one of the fastest growing ones in the country, is likely to reach US $400 billion in the coming decade. Globally renowned for its consumption potential, with changing landscapes in electronics design, manufacturing capabilities, and cost structures, India is attracting global companies to build local capabilities. Companies are focused not just to serve the resident market but also to cater to global ones.

Frost & Sullivan instituted these Awards in its bid to identify and recognize companies in the areas of Consumer Electronics, Consumer Durables, Home Audio and Video Appliances, Kitchen Appliances, Electronics Security, Auto Identification and Data Capture Technology, and Payment Terminals / Point of Sale Systems. The assessments brought forth latest trends in all these sectors with the common theme being focus on innovation and customer centric business models to achieve higher growth. These Awards symbolize a recipient’s commitment, dedication, and endeavor to focus on meeting customers’ needs and to take customer satisfaction to an optimum level in the industry. The awards were further divided into Jury based awards and Voice of Customer awards.

The Voice of Customer Award recipients were finalized based on the findings from in-depth customer research surveys. The Jury-based Award contenders were judged based on a variety of parameters like Total Customer Experience, Product Innovation, Technological Excellence, Design, Product / Service Value, Market Strategy, etc. Results were collated after conducting detailed research and assessment on market performance of companies, including in-depth primary interviews of various industry participants and secondary research conducted by Frost & Sullivan analysts. An elite and independent panel of judges comprising some of the most prominent names from the electronics industry deliberated in the findings of the analyst teams and finalized the winners.
