Hinduja Renewables appoints Deepak Thakur as MD and CEO

Deepak Thakur has over three decades of diverse experience across renewable energy, infrastructure, industrial products and electronics. He has held leadership roles at multiple organisations including the Mahindra Group, Reliance, Sterling & Wilson, L&T, Honeywell and Thermax.

Hinduja Renewables Energy has appointed Deepak Thakur as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, effective October 1, 2025. He has over three decades of experience across renewable energy, infrastructure, industrial products and electronics.
 
Thakur has held leadership roles at multiple organisations including the Mahindra Group, Reliance, Sterling & Wilson, L&T, Honeywell and Thermax. His experience spans the full renewable energy value chain across solar, wind, storage and hybrid systems covering project development, EPC, O&M, upstream technology, manufacturing and asset monetisation through InvITs.
 
He succeeds Sumit Pandey, who has stepped down from his position.
 
Commenting on Thakur’s appointment, Shom Hinduja, Chairman, Hinduja Renewables Energy, said, “As we continue to build on our aspiration to be a leading player in the renewable energy domain, Deepak’s experience and leadership will be pivotal in our journey ahead. A committed advocate of clean energy and sustainability, Deepak contributed to the formulation of the National Solar Thermal Policy in 2009, helping lay the foundation for India’s clean energy roadmap. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pune and an MBA from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management.
