Hinduja Renewables has proposed an investment of more than INR 1,000 crore to develop a pumped-storage project in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, as the Hinduja Group expands its presence in the state’s energy sector.
The company has been allotted the Babura/Sukhnai pumped-storage project site in Mirzapur by the Uttar Pradesh State Transformation Commission for study and implementation.
The proposed project is part of the Hinduja Group’s broader investment plans in Uttar Pradesh, which span mobility, energy, digital connectivity and healthcare.
The Group is also planning to expand the production capacity of Ashok Leyland’s manufacturing facility in Lucknow. The plant’s capacity is expected to increase from 2,500 vehicles a year to 5,000 vehicles a year over the next six to seven months.
In the digital sector, the Group’s Project GANGA has received more than 3,200 applications from prospective Digital Service Providers, while over 1,000 people have been trained under the initiative. The first GANGA fibre network became operational in Lambhua, Sultanpur, connecting six customers initially.
The Group’s Road to School programme currently covers 415 schools and more than 45,000 children across Gorakhpur, Aligarh and Lucknow. Its CSR spending in Uttar Pradesh is estimated at INR 11 crore for FY27.
The Group has also undertaken healthcare initiatives in the state, including maternal and adolescent healthcare programmes. Between August 18 and September 25, its mobile medical units conducted 27 health camps, screened 682 beneficiaries and carried out 1,145 laboratory investigations.
The proposed Mirzapur pumped-storage project adds to the Group’s planned investments in Uttar Pradesh and marks its latest move into the state’s renewable-energy and energy-storage segment.
