In a chain of domestic campaigns for drawing investors’ interest in the Global Investors Meet scheduled here for November 7 and 8, a power conclave was organized by the department of MPP and power, where as many as 10 MoUs were signed for hydroelectric projects in Himachal Pradesh. These will be set up with an outlay of Rs 25,772 crore and have a capacity of 2,927 MW and will provide possible employment to 13,250 persons with NTPC, SJVNL and NHPC in the state.

Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur said that the three energy majors of the country — SJVNL, NTPC and NHPC — were playing a pivotal role in harnessing hydel power in the state. He said that the state government understood the importance of this sector as it not only met the power requirements of the state, but was also exporting power to the neighbouring states and earning revenue for the state exchequer.

“The state government till now has succeeded in signing 570 MoUs worth about Rs 75,700 crore, which were bound to usher in an era of progress and prosperity in the state,” added the chief minister.

Himurja also launched an online portal Unified Single Window Clearance Portal for processing of rooftop solar PV, which will enable consumers to apply for rooftop solar system online and relevant stakeholders will be able to process applications online through this portal.
