Hero Future Energies has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) for a 270 MW Solar with ESS project.
The company won the capacity under SECI's ISTS XVII auction for 2 GW solar projects integrated with 1 GW/4 GWh energy storage systems at a competitive tariff of INR 3.52/kWh. The auction result was declared in December 2024.
This is the second such project awarded by SECI, which combines solar with integrated storage. This testifies to HFE's expertise in complex projects that incorporate storage for firmer supply of green power.
“We commend SECI for their efforts in introducing this ground-breaking concept with an aim to ensure stable power supply during non-peak solar hours. We look forward to commissioning this project and accelerating India's energy transition journey,” the company stated.
Last month, Hero Future Energies signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with NTPC for the supply of 120 MW Firm and Dispatchable RE power. It secured the capacity under NTPC’s 3 GW FDRE auction with a competitive bid of INR 4.69/kWh.
The company also entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with SJVN to develop a 120 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project under the SJVN FDRE-2 tender. The PPA tenure for the project will be 25 years.
In March 2025, Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu virtually inaugurated Hero Future Energies' (HFE) first-of-its kind Green Hydrogen plant at Rockman Industries in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. The plant is considered a pioneering initiative for its unique blending of green hydrogen with PNG/LPG for an industrial furnace application – a breakthrough feat in industrial decarbonisation. The technology integration promises significant reductions in emissions, laying the groundwork for a scalable model that can be replicated across hard to abate industries in AP and the rest of India.
