Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has pushed for an aggressive scale-up of clean energy adoption, ordering that every government facility including schools, colleges, hospitals, and administrative buildings, be fitted with rooftop solar systems to fast-track the state’s shift to green power.

Chairing a high-level review of power-sector budget commitments at the civil secretariat, he urged officials to accelerate implementation of the PM Suryaghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, closely track monthly progress, and ensure tighter oversight to keep installations on schedule.

He also called for the development of new solar parks across Haryana to tap the state’s renewable energy potential and instructed departments to immediately remove ageing electricity poles along major roads and highways to improve safety and urban aesthetics.

Haryana has completed 42,486 rooftop solar installations as of November 20, 2025. The state has set a target of deploying 2,22,000 rooftop systems by March 31, 2027. Power utilities have submitted a new scheme – Saur Urja Protsahan Yojana – for government approval, which is expected to significantly boost rooftop solar uptake once cleared.

Saini underlined that all power-sector commitments must be delivered within deadlines to ensure round-the-clock electricity for every household. Haryana plans to raise its power availability to 24,000 MW over the next seven years, backed by major capacity additions, including the upcoming 800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal unit at Yamunanagar, to be developed with BHEL’s support.
